Course aims and objectives
This one day course, established by the HSE in October 2009, aims to equip candidates with the basic knowledge and practical experience they need to carry out first aid in the workplace. This course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks. Candidates will learn the required skills by participating in fun and innovative practical exercises and scenarios devised by Achievable Training. This course complies with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The course includes
Legislation and procedures
Dealing with emergencies
Major and Minor Bleeding
CPR
Dealing with shock
Burns
Choking

Target audience
The course is aimed at anyone who is expected to perform first aid in their workplace in a low-risk environment or for those acting in the absence of a fully qualified First Aider.

Assessment
The course is assessed by continual assessment of candidates throughout the day.

Duration:  
The course is 6 hours long and is normally run over one day.

Maximum number
12 – additional numbers can be trained, but a surcharge would be added to our normal course price as an additional trainer is required.



Additional services
A comprehensive telephone back-up service is offered to all candidates whilst they hold a valid certificate.  We also offer a free reminder service to inform candidates that their certificate is due for renewal.
